an engagement oops

With all the excitement from Thursday, the day did not end without a little more excitement.

When Ernie proposed to me I slipped the ring on.
But there was just one little problem:
the ring would not come off!

Like would not, could not budge it off my finger.
So of course we started panicking when we both realized the ring was really stuck.
Ernie got the ring too small.
He was so sweet and wanted to make sure that the ring never fell off.
Well this ring wasn’t going anywhere.

We immediately started googling how to get off a stuck ring.
Spray windex on it.
Put lotion on it.
Ice your hand.
Compress your swollen finger in saran-wrap.
Wrap your finger in dental floss.

Nothing helped.

LOL at least it was the prettiest thing ever stuck on my finger.
So the worst thing had to happen.
We had to cut the ring off.

On Friday morning we went to the jewelry store, and the used a cutting tool and cut the ring off of me.

Of course I was completely crushed. I am so excited to be engaged to the man of my dreams I just wish I could show off the ring! So they were so nice at the jewelry store and resized my ring.

There is just one more catch. The ring does not fit still. I guess the thicker the band, the bigger the ring size you need to get. I have always been a size 4 ring so I told them to make the ring a size 4. Now we have to go back next week and have them resize the ring again.
In the meantime I am wearing the ring on a necklace like Carrie Bradshaw.

Oh no!! I swear engagement rings never fit, but mine was too big, and now it can’t be sized any smaller or the diamonds and sapphires will pop out. I’m sure you will get it all figured out soon, and you definitely need to show it off, because it’s GORGEOUS!

oh no! That’s so sad that they had to cut it! My husband went the other way with my engagement ring: he originally got a size 5, which was way too loose, so I went down to a 4.5, and my rings were still loose enough to be dangerous, so I went down again to 4.25. They could probably be smaller yet but I don’t ever want to get them stuck so I’m happy to wear them slightly loose. :P
