Chasing Dreams
I never want to live a life of regret.
One of my fears in life is not being successful.
I don't want to sound conceited when I say,
"I want to make a name for myself."
When I look at my friends, they are so successful.
Some are attorneys, own a company, work at Google, Yahoo, Shoreline Entertainment, Dreamworks, Oakley, etc.
I too want to be successful just like them.
We live in this world where one of the first things that a person ask you is, "What do you do?". Your job/career defines you.
I never want to be ashamed of my job. I want to be proud.
Now, by all means, this does mean I am not loving my current job.
I absolutely do.
I just am striving for MORE.
A quote that I love:
So I gotta ask, what are your dreams?

I am right there with you! i want a job that I am passionate about where i am doing what I love. I would love to own my own business!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya! I like my job. The people I work with are amazing! It's a great place. But, i'm completley overqualified for my position and there's no room to move up. I've been "bored" so to speak for awhile. I need something more to keep me satisfied. I am looking for more.
ReplyDeleteMy first dream was to be a mom and I've done (still doing?!) that. Now I feel it is becoming this blog, which started as a hobby and has become so much more. I love how it incorporates so many of my passions and skills in one place.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! I want to always be passionate about what I "do" for a living. And although I "do" a lot of things I am constantly striving to narrow it down to what I do 'best'.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned.....we'll see how it goes.
i love this. there is nothing wrong at all with wanting success! pursuing dreams... but its a lot of work... but im a fighter =) usually!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! I have issues with this as well. I always thought I needed to have a "serious" job (to me that meant using my degree), and I work in market research and I've never loved it. I like it, and I try hard at it, but I'm not passionate about it. I have always, always wanted to be a makeup artist but didn't for fear of not getting taken seriously. I have decided to not care and to pursue it anyway : ) It's been the best decision EVER! I am enjoying my certification classes SO MUCH and I can't wait until I can be an actual working makeup artist (cross your fingers for me) ; )
ReplyDeleteI think it's kind of sad that our job title defines us..rather than who we are. But you are right, we should never quite striving to make a name for ourselves in this world. We all can make a different in someone else's life!
ReplyDeletemy dream would be moving to maui and opening a road side fruit stand with justin. then we can raise our family in the outdoors, be on the water everyday, and truly enjoy the "work" we do...
ReplyDeleteMy dream is to work with tigers some day, either as a zoo veterinarian or as a zoo keeper. I actually had this same quote on my blog just a few days ago when I was needing some inspiration.

ReplyDeleteI've been dreaming of the same thing for a LONG time! I'm not sure what I would like to do...all I know is that I want to finally find a job where I am happy with what I'm doing. Working at a place where you don't like what you do is not good!
